STRAP END
Unique ID: NCL-854196
Object type certainty: Certain
A cast copper-alloy Anglo-Saxon end of 10th-11th century date.
The strap end is drop-shaped in plan with a narrow, pointed split end and an openwork body. Corrosion obscures the detail of the openwork, but it may be in the Winchester style. One perforation near the top was probably for a rivet to attach the strap end to the strap. A raised line separates the body panel from the rounded terminal.
