The fitting is a strap mount for horse harness, damaged and incomplete. The mount was probably octagonal in plan, though two edges are missing from opposite sides of the mount. The centre of the mount has a slightly raised circle with a distinct raised outer perimeter, and a smaller slightly raised circle in the centre. Between the outer angles of the edges and the perimeter of the circle are ring-and-dot punches. In section, the mount is convex with flattended faces at the base. The reverse bears iron corrosion on the remaining reverse faces where it was riveted to the harness strap. A cast copper-alloy harness fitting of 16th-18th century date.
