<full>
Cast copper alloy dagger guard dating to the Medieval period. The object is lentoid shaped in plan with a central rectangular section and a rounded projection at either side. There is a central sub&#45;rectangular slot for the blade tang. The slot for the tang is regular and has an internal width of 20.77mm and is 6.07mm thick. The central panel is decorated with red enamel in the form of a figure of eight from which projects an inverted triangle at either side. The projections are circular in cross&#45;section and terminate in a break. The object has some traces of red enamel on the reverse. The object is substantially polished and abraded due to water movement, having been found on a beach.
