<descriptions>
<description>
<full>
A cast copper alloy Roman trumpet brooch, dating to c. 1st to 2nd centuries AD. The trumpet brooch has a typical oval head shape, the pin and spring are missing and the catchplate is incomplete. Near to the top of the oval head there is one central moulded band on the outer body of the brooch. At the top and bottom of this band there are two horizontal incised bands either sides of the central band. These bands do not extend around the whole of the body of the brooch. Above the upper incised bands there are two vertical incised line decoration that slightly flare at they reach the top of the oval head of the brooch. These incised lines reach up to a small peak on the top of the head of the brooch. Running vertical down the centre of the body there is a ridge. Below the central band the brooch tapers until it reaches the foot of the brooch, where there is a small instep and rounded foot. The brooch has a brown/green patina and is slightly polished and abraded due to water movement as it was found on a beach.</full>
