COIN
Unique ID: BH-A87946
Object type certainty: Certain
A silver halfpenny of Richard II (1377-1399). This coin contains elements of both the Early and Late bust coins (North nos. 1331 and 1332 respectively)*. It would appear to be a transitional type which does not, however, fit with the 'Intermediate issue' (North 1331a).
Dimensions: 13mm diameter, 0.1mm thick. Weight: 0.5g.
Notes:
*The annulet on breast is a distinguishing feature of the Early bust issue, while the use of 'fish-tail' letters and Lombardic 'n' is typical of the Late bust coins. Coins of the Intermediate issue bear no marks on the breast.
