It has an expanded waist in the centre, from which either end tapers to a point. One end terminates in a sharp point while the opposite end has a rectangular cross section and narrows to a flat terminal which is broken. The flattened side may have been used as a tang and could have been inserted into a socket. The object has a dark green patina and is pitted. Such construction is typical of prehistoric awls which are thought to date from the late Bronze Age. Similar examples which can be found on the database are GLO-9FB903 and GLO-E6E9A3.
