<descriptions>
<description>
<full>A complete cast copper&#45;alloy post&#45;Medieval button (c. 1600&#45;c. 1700). The button was originally circular in plan. However, due to corrosion, some material has been lost around the edges. It is slightly convex at the front, and excepting the lug, is flat at the rear. It has an integral drilled lug (8.35 x 10.20 x 3.62mm) with a central circular hole, 4.31mm in diameter. The front is decorated with a concentric &#39;compass&#45;drawn&#39; circle and there is a small circular depression at the centre. This button has a shiny dark green patina with small areas of active corrosion. Diameter: 22.03mm; thickness: 11.47mm. Weight: 6.1g. The button is similar to one recorded from North Yorkshire. See, Portable Antiquities Scheme find: LVLP&#45;DBCD82 and IOW&#45;21CEA6.</full>
