Cast copper alloy headstud brooch dating to the Roman period, (75-200AD). The brooch is hinged, although the pin is missing. The brooch has a rectangular head above which are the remains of a large chain loop which has broken away. The base of the chain loop is decorated with vertical grooves and ridges. Projecting from the centre of the head is a large sub-circular headstud. The wings are short and rectangular sectioned and terminate in a break. The bow arches downwards and narrows from the head before terminating in a break. It has a dark brown patina.
