The seal dates circa 1914-1937. The seal is oval, flat and decorated on both sides. The obverse reads: [ANGL]O CONT[INENTAL WORKS LONDON] around LATE OHLEN[DORFF], and on the reverse: TRADE MARK with the image of a cornucopia between the two words. Anglo-Continental, originally Ohlendorff & Co., had been founded in 1873, and remained a German company until the First World War, when it was reconstituted under British control. It was taken over in 1937 by Fisons Ltd. and closed in 1946. The guano, which was bird or bat excrement, was brought over from Peru. This seal still shows the Ohlendorff name (LATE). Later just the cornucopia trademark remained. Bailey (2000) illustrates a similar example on page 19, Fig.16.
