The upper half of the thimble is decorated with circular machine formed punches. The lower half is decorated with wide grooves and wide bands with very fine milled decoration. The top is domed and decorated with concentric rings of pits. There has been some damage to the thimble and it has been dented. There are no hall marks. The use of milling and the extremely regular pits indicate that this thimble is machine made and less than 300 years old. As such, it does not need to be declared as Treasure.
