VESSEL
Unique ID: SWYOR-5AFF77
Object type certainty: Certain
A fragment of a cast copper alloy cooking vessel of Medieval date (about 1250-1600 AD). The fragment is the top part of a cooking vessel leg. The object is roughly D-shaped in section and tapers towards the base. Two protruding ridges extend down the front of the fragment. The back side of the leg is concave. The bottom of the leg fragment is worn and appears to have been broken. At the top is a plate of curved metal - part of the wall of the vessel. The metal has a mid-green patina and is worn. While it is not possible to allocate this fragment to a specific type, a mid 13th to 16th century date is generally accepted for cooking vessels. For a similar vessel fragment, please compare to PAS record ID: YORYM-313CD1.
