The weight is circular (with a diameter of 25.1mm) and with sides that converge slightly towards the base (of 24.0mm diameter), producing a trapezoidal section (7.6mm - 8.0mm thick). The face has an incised inscription:
XOX
The surface has a pale green surface patina.
The weight is 29.3g, equivalent to 1.0335oz and 18.776 dwt. The weight corresponds closely to one ounce weights of the Mercantile systems and the Tower system (all 29.2g) current in the medieval period but is also consistent with a modern ounce. The 'XOX' is more likely to refer to twenty pennyweight (31.10g) and the slight weight difference may result from corrosion of the weight.","","","2011-06-09 14:37:18","2011-09-13 14:23:00","4","","3","2009-06-18","2009-08-07","XOX","","","1","3","1","1","","","1","3","","simj3","sim johnson","NMGW","simj3","sim johnson","Copper alloy","","","","","","Complete","","Possibly","MEDIEVAL","MEDIEVAL","","Metal detector","","Ms Simone Johnson","","Ms Simone Johnson","NEATH PORT TALBOT","Margam","Neath Port Talbot","","","","SS8083","SS8083","SS88SW","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","344389","2009.173.1.jpg","images/simj3/",
