A fragment of a silver bodkin, only one terminal end survives. This terminal has a circular ear scoop at its tip and then a perforated tear-drop shaped hole, below this is the solid silver rectangular-shaped shaft and then a longitudinal rectangular opening, which is now incomplete.
Notes:
This bodkin is similar to other more complete examples also reported via the Treasure Act, for example one from Lidlington, Bedfordshire (2004 T206) (Treasure Annual Report 2004, no 244, p 121).
In terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
