A Roman copper alloy headstud brooch dating from 75 - 200 AD. The head loop is missing. The wings have raised beaded vertical ridges on the front. Behind the head, the brooch is tubular and holds a copper aloy axis bar and a copper alloy hinged pin, almost all of which is missing. At the top of the bow is the integral circular head stud decorated with a ring of enamel. The bow is decorated with a series of wide rectangular cells in a row along the bow, some containing traces of blue enamel. The lower bow and foot is missing. The breaks are worn and patinated.
