SPOON

Unique ID: YORYM-C12142

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Published Find published

An incomplete cast silver spoon of post-medieval date. The spoon has an oval bowl which has been bent out of shape as a result of its deposition. The bowl is undecorated. One end of the bowl tapers into the narrow rectangular stem which terminates in a worn break a short distance from the bowl.
On the reverse of the stem, close to the break, is a worn rectangular panel stamped with a worn design, though possibly a rampant lion, representing the start of a hallmark. Any further hallmark elements are missing due to the break in the stem.
