Period: 16th century
Date of Discovery: 21/3/11
Circumstances of discovery: whilst metal detecting
Description: post-medieval silver-gilt dress hook (incomplete). The back plate is in the form of a wreath with five projecting petals, and has five applied conical bosses with central knops. There is a butterfly clip, studded at the top, that runs through a separate small pierced circle of silver and through the central hole in the back plate, splitting across the back plate to hold it in place. This appears to be an additional flower decoration. The reverse shows the remains of the transverse attachment bar and the placement of the possible recurving hook, both missing.
