A cast coppy-alloy foot fragment of an Anglo-Saxon cruciform brooch, dating to the 6th century.<\/p>\n\n
The horsehead terminal of the foot is all that remains, from the collar below a panel. The horsehead has two protrusions serving as eyes or ears on the upper 'head', with a flat snout bearing a rounded now and flared nostrils, which appear as semi-circular projects to the sides of the snout with circular perforations rather than the hooked variety. An incised line runs down each side of the snout.<\/p>\n\n
The underside is flat with an oblong concavity on the underside of the snout.
