<description>
<full>A cast copper&#45;alloy gilded openwork mount of probable late medieval to post&#45;medieval date. The mount may have been a strap or casket fitting. It takes the form of two entwined parts, possibly intended to be rope, possibly snakes, although they look more like the former. These terminate in a projecting knop at one end and taper to a knopped terminal at the other end. The mount has two integral rivets on the reverse, both broken. The reverse is flat and undecorated. Traces of gilding remain on the surface. It has a green to dark green patina. It measures 45.34 mm long, 15.45 mm wide (tapering to 3.35 mm), 2.76 mm thick and weighs 4.9 grams.</full>
