A cast copper alloy double loop oval spectacle buckle dating from the Post Medieval period. It has small moulded projections at either end of the strap bar and moulded acorn knops on the outer edge of each loop. These have three parallel moulded lines to define the edge and the layers of the acorn. The cups of the acorn have incised cross hatched lines. The strap bar is narrowed and flush with the frame and still holds the thick sheet copper alloy pin. The plate is missing and there is a crack in the frame. The buckle is curved which may suggest it was a shoe buckle. Whitehead (1996) illustrates a similar example on page 65, No.405, which is dated to c.1550-1650. Compare also CORN-8272C3.
