TILE

Unique ID: LON-6A3E87

Object type certainty: Certain

A Post Medieval ceramic fragment of a Delft polychrome tile dating to the first half of the 17th century. The fragment includes one corner of the tile, originally the tile was square. The pattern probably was originally diagonal interweaving strapwork. The corner that remains shows a fleur de lis within a pointed oval. The fleur de lis is white with a blue outline against a yellow background within the pointed oval. The fabric is cream/buff with red grog inclusions. The tile has a thickness of 16.95mm which may indicate it is a floor rather than a wall tile. This tile is probably of London manufacture.

Dimensions: thickness: 16.95mm; weight: 70.84g.
