{"recordID":"425965","finds":[{"created2":"2011 01 24","description":"<p>A Medieval - Post Medieval copper alloy closed (rumbler) form bell dating late 13th - mid 16th century.  This bell consists of a pair of hemispheres soldered together.  One has a dumbbell-shaped aperture and the other is pierced to accept a sheet metal suspension loop which is also soldered into place.  The pea would have been iron; the bell is now filled with concretion and there is some evidence of iron staining.  The shape of the lower hemisphere is slightly distorted due to damage.<\/p><p>\n<\/p>\n\n<p>Similar bells are illustrated in Egan &amp; Prichard (1991:328) and Egan (2005:57) where the bells are know from deposits of the late 13th - mid 16th century.<\/p><p>\n<\/p>\n\n<p>Dimensions: length: 20.17mm; diameter: 19.01mm; weight: 8.50g.<\/p><p>\n<\/p>\n\n<p>Reference: Egan G. and Pritchard F. 1991.
