This brooch frame has a rectangular cross-section and one section is constricted to accommodate the pin and there is a notch on the opposing side for the pin rest. The pin is still present and appears to be the original pin. It has a tapering trapezoidal section and is decorated with two engraved, parallel, transverse lines at the junction where it meets the frame. The external surface has an inscription in black lettering which reads "DOMINE oak leaf NE oak leaf" the inscription is slightly unclear but possibly continues as "MEM ORE ON" A very similar brooch is recorded on the database as SF6179.
