It consists of a curved length of metal, one end of which is solid, the other end being rolled, thick sheet. The solid end is bent through 90 degrees to form a flat terminal which is pierced with a circular hole. The rolled metal end is not completely circular, but extends into a narrow, flat flange which descends from the frame and is pierced with three small holes where the material of the purse was fastened. The outer side of the frame is decorated with five panels, each area being separated by two narrow, transverse grooves. Each panel has two sets of three incised chevrons, each set pointing inward to the centre of the panel. It is 109.2mm long, 12.1mm wide and 49.8mm thick. It weighs 36.15gm. The frame has a patchy green patina.
