<descriptions>
<description>
<full>A post&#45;medieval, copper alloy pendant, probably a dress accessory, dating from 1600&#45;1700. It is heart shaped and carries the design of a horizontal crescent, the lower edge of which is a tressure of seven small arcs. There are three stars impressed into the body of the crescent and its rim is delineated with a row of small dots. In the field above and below the crescent is a pattern of curved lines (scrolling foliage). In the centre of the upper edge is a small, integral suspension loop, set in the same plane as the body of the pendant. Traces of gilding remain and the remainder of the pendant displays a dark brown patina. It is 20.7mm long, 17.9mm wide and 1.6mm thick. It weighs 2.14gm. The reverse is slightly concave, and the pendant feels as if it was originally hollow and convex on both faces but it now flattened. The style is similar to buttons of the same period.</full>
