This example fits into Forsyth &amp; Egan's (2005: 257) category of Design 37. The plate has a broad flange, straight sloping wall and flat base. The rim has a beaded edge and the flange is decorated with diametrically opposed designs linked by broken scrolling.  There is a four-petalled rose in the centre and the prominent calyx points extend beyond an enclosing plain circle.  The edge of the wall is defined by a beaded ring.  There are three small sections missing from the rim.<\/p><p>\n<\/p>\n\n<p>This plate is very similar to no.8.37 which is dated to the 17th century (ibid.).<\/p><p>\n<\/p>\n\n<p>Dimensions: thickness: 2.64mm; diameter: 36.68mm; weight: 6.01g.<\/p><p>\n<\/p>\n\n<p>Reference: Forsyth, H. and Egan, G. 2005.
