A complete silver thimble of post-medieval date. The surface of the thimble is decorated with a series of regular, circular indentations though those on the top appear less regular. A narrow, plain band runs around the opening. A large inscribed letter "H" is present within a floral border above which is probably the owner's initial. There is also a smaller stamped maker's mark "SP". The bordered area is flanked by two bird-like figures.
The inside of the thimble is undecorated.
The thimble has been bent out of shape and a worn break is present at the opening.
Notes:
Numerous thimbles are recorded with the Portable Antiquities Scheme each year.
