An incomplete and misshapen post-Medieval silver thimble (1600-1700). Treasure case no. 2010 T749.
The body is decorated with two horizontal zones of waffle-type indentations divided by a narrow panel containing raised contiguous pheon-like motifs. The rim is deep and plain.
45.2 x 23.6 x 0.4mm. Weight: 4.15g.
The find contains a minimum of 10% silver and predates 1710. It thus qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996 in terms of precious metal content and age.
