MOUNT
Unique ID: NCL-D66725
Object type certainty: Probably
A cast copper-alloy Irish mount of Early Medieval date, probably 8th-9th century.
The mount is linear in plan, like a capital 'I' with an upper and lower cross bar and a square centre. The outlines of the brooch have a raised border, with raised reticulate interlace decorating the body. There are very small traces of gilding on the interlace. The underside is undecorated with a projecting incomplete lug at each end, both with a possible indication of piercing.
This is a find of note and has been designated: Include in MedArch
