MOUNT</objecttype>
<descriptions>
<description>
<full>A cast copper&#45;alloy possible mount of possible Early Medieval date, c. 6th century.

The object is incomplete, possibly fragmentary, and bears considerable damage from corrosion, and possibly also exposure to fire or heat.

The object is sub&#45;rectangular in plan with a broken end and a tapered, rounded end opposite. In section, it is D&#45;shaped, with a thinner lug or plate emerging perpendicularly from the underside. This lug or plate is incomplete.

The object may have been a mount, or a number of other types of object, but its present state makes identification uncertain. However, it was found within 1 meter of a fragment of a small long brooch of the 6th century, suggesting a possible Early Medieval date.</full>
