HANGING BOWL

Unique ID: LON-3EDCD3

Probably an Early Medieval copper alloy ring fitting from a hanging bowl dating to the 11th century. The object is C-shaped in profile with an animal's head decorating the upper section of the fitting. It has a triangular cross-section which expands at the zoomorphic decoration and the reverse at this point becomes concave. There are filemarks on the reverse. The animal's head has lentoid eyes and a curved back tip to the nose which is typical of Urnes style decoration.
