A groundstone axe of the Neolithic period, c. 3500-2100 BC.
The axe has been ground from an igneous rock of very fine and dense form with a pale green/white outer cortex, that may be related to Langdale geology.
The axe is subtrapezoidal in shape plan and pointed-oval in section, with a rounded butt end and sharp blade edge, with some evidence for chipping.
