MOUNT

Unique ID: YORYM-06EE57

Object type certainty: Certain

An incomplete cast copper alloy mount, possibly related to harness fittings. The mount is formed from a plate of copper alloy with has a tinned surface. It is rectangular, with a pointed terminal. The terminal has a faceted upper surface and retains a copper alloy rivet. Adjacent to this is a rectangular collar, decorated with incised diagonal lines. A further two faceted sections comes next, with collars decorated in the same way dividing them. It is after this that the break has occurred. It has broken at a point where a rivet hole has been drilled through the section. The break is well worn. The reverse is flat and undecorated. There is a square plate attached to the reverse of the rivet, which can be seen extending through the pointed terminal. This mount is medieval in date and could be a suspension mount for a harness pendant.
