A cast copper-alloy Medieval casket (bar) mount (1200-1500). The mount is sub-rectangular in plan, convex at the front and flat at the rear. It has two pairs of transverse ribs, 24.4mm apart. At one end there is an oval section with a circular hole for a rivet, 2.4mm in diameter. This end terminates with an elongated knop. At the opposite end there is an old oblique break. The mount is probably a hinge-fitting or binding for a small casket or container. The object has minute flecks of a mid-green patina. 59.4 x 9.1 x 1.6mm. Weight: 3.85g.
