MOUNT

Unique ID: YORYM-C15981

A cast copper alloy mount of post-medieval date. The mount is roughly rectangular, but has been decoratively cut around the edges. The two terminals are trefoil in shape and there are two small lobed extensions projecting from the centre of either side of the mount. The front surface of the mount has moulded high relief decoration in the form of a central flower and other floral motifs. The reverse of the mount has a central concave element, either side of which project the two attachment spikes. The spike point inwards. The metal is a dark reddish-brown colour and is quite worn. Mounts of this type date to 16th-17th century.
