A Medieval copper-alloy harness pendant and attached suspension mount.
Both the suspension mount and pendant take the form of a scallop shell. That of the mount is aligned with the convex outer side pointing upwards, while the pendant's points downwards. At the base of the mount is a waisted projection; below this is the hanger, formed by bending backwards a tab containing a vertical slit, forming a loop which holds in place the axis bar. The pendant's hanger is located within this slit, the axis bar passing through its aperture. The surfaces of both the mount and pendant bear three enamelled lines depicting the ridges and grooves of the shell. Traces of gilding are also visible on the surface of the pendant. A flattened rivet is located on the reverse of the mount.
The artefact is heavily corroded. It measures 32.2mm long, 8.4mm wide and 3.1mm thick. The weight is 1.75g.
