A slightly corroded, damaged cast copper-alloy Late Bronze Age 'bag-shaped' dagger scabbard chape. The object has a rounded end, slightly flattened at the base perhaps through wear. The attachment end has suffered some losses but is broadly U-shaped after a removal, with a raised border. On each side are three punched ring-and-dot motifs in an arc aligned with the attachment end. These bear internal concentric rings as part of the production process. Two of the perforations are filled with corrosion product. The base is thickened from the widest point to the terminal and on the sides in a U shape. The artefact has a variable mid-green patina with some brighter green pitting and off-white corrosion product in places.

A couple of these chapes are listed in O'Connor (1980, 190-191; ref. 161); a less elaborate chape has been recorded on this database - NARC-5DEF37, with a closer parallel on display at the Barbican House Museum, Lewes, East Sussex. They are associated with the 'carp's tongue complex' of south-east England and date to the Ewart Park metalworking phase.
