The inscription AVE MARIA MATER with three flowers seperating each element of the legend is repeated on both faces. The obverse depicts a long cross with fleur terminal and a fleur in each quarter of the cross. The reverse depicts an eagle with wings outstretched, suggesting a Germanic infulence in the design. The double headed imperial eagle appears frequently in arms of the day, but this is not the imperial eagle as the eagle has one head. This jetton may be similar to Spink's (1974) Type 8a, although this jetton does not have a key on the reverse. Currently no comparison for this jetton can be found in the published literature or on the database.
