A silver Roman finger ring inscribed ToT, Henig Type XI. The ring has a flat oval bezel and tapering shoulders. The perimeter of the bezel is decorated with an oval band of diagonal incised lines set within a border. The letters ToT are an abbreviation for the god-name Totatis (or Toutatis). TOT rings are well known finds from the East Midlands, especially in Lincolnshire.
Notes:
This ring was reported by an antiquities dealer as being from an 'old collection'. Unfortunately the ring has no provenance, though it is likely to have been found in the East Midlands, possibly Lincolnshire, based on the tight distribution of provenanced TOT rings.
