HARNESS MOUNT
Unique ID: SUR-2AAA52
Object type certainty: Probably
A circular copper alloy mount with a domed centre and three fixing points on the reverse - two of these are pierced. The mount bears a cast image of the sun as a human face with well-engraved details. The outer face of the mount has been covered with a well-preserved silver sheet onto which the underlying sun's image has been engraved. The sun comprises a central face with surrounding rays. The spaces between the rays have been filled with close zigzag work.
Notes:
The mount was probably intended as a harness decoration.
