An incomplete cast copper alloy Medieval finger ring. Only part of the hoop remains, and is slightly bent. It has a small rectangular bezel, which is rectangular in profile. there is an oval impression in the front where a stone may have been placed. there is no decoration, however there are small areas of a red pigment on the front which could indicate enamel. the hoop and bezel are integral. Similar items can be found in records LVPL-8071E6 and ESS-F07073. 24.11mm L x 13.69mm W x 3.63mm T. 3.89g weight.
Notes:
The object comes from a collection of finds found by a detectorist who searched the spoil from a dredged sewer drain in Sandwich. The material was then given to DoverMuseum. No other information is available on the findspot.
