It is pear or drop shaped. The lead has a light grey patina and is undecorated. It has a length of 63.42mm, diameter 50.78mm, weight 741g. It does not seem to fit neatly into any common system of weights, but is around 2lb. Some weights of this shape are identified as Roman steelyard weights (eg: KENT-52E511), but they are more commonly planoconvex and tend to have an iron suspension loop. There is no evidence of iron on this example. However, similar methods of weighing were used until recently, and it seems more likely that this example is of later date.
