Unique ID: KENT-A76065

An incomplete Medieval cast copper alloy mount. The mount has one suspension loop present and part of a separate hook fitting. The mount has a foliate design, and one rivet hole with some iron staining around it. The hook has a globular terminal. Mount: 29.2mm L x 17.98mm W x 2.77mm T. Hooked fitting: 21.26mm L x 15.21mm W x 11.50mm T. 12.80g weight. Read suggests this is a 16th century mount from a sword belt (2001: p.43, no. 373).

Notes:

The object comes from a collection of finds found by a detectorist who searched the spoil from a dredged sewer drain in Sandwich. The material was then given to DoverMuseum. No other information is available on the findspot.
