An cast copper-alloy object of uncertain function or date. It is cylindrical in form with an oval shaped section with worn surfaces that have a pale green patina. On one side of the object are two identical areas of moulded decoration consisting of raised crescent shaped mouldings with narrow transverse collars to either side. Both ends are rounded and have triangular notches oriented on the same side of the object making it uncertain as to whether this is the deliberate form of the object or if they both terminate in old breaks. The entire object measures 47.81mm in length, 3.94mm in width, 3.67mm in thickness, and weighs 3.53g.
The precise function of this object remains uncertain. It shares some similarities with Roman metalwork, particularly handles for cosmetic objects and spoons (see for example Crummy, 1983: no. 4648), but such a function is dependent on the ends terminating in old breaks, which remains uncertain. It may therefore date to any point from the Roman period onwards.
