Copper alloy
Harness Pendant. Cast pendant of rhomboid or diamond shape with a lobe projecting from each side of the diamond, and a central rhomboid boss; the object is concavo-convex at the boss position, so is hollow behind it. An oval suspension loop with circular hole of diameter3.19mm is set at right angles to the pendant. It is uncertain whether traces of gilding survive, or whether this is merely metal showing from beneath surface corrosion. The object is bent. D. Green kindly recorded this object. Though harness pendants are current from 1200-1250, lighter and lobed pendants like this may be a little later. Suggested date: Later Medieval, 1300-1450.
Length: 32.5mm, Width: 20.3mm, Thickness (of pendant):1.33mm, Weight: 4.12gms.
