A copper alloy Roman headstud brooch dating from 75 - 200 AD. Only a small part of the head and body survives and it is very worn. There is an integral stud with traces of enamel and a pseudo chord. There is a slot for the hinged pin which is missing, and a mark where the axis bar would have rested. It has a length of 22.19mm, width 13.13mm, thickness 5.09mm, weight 3.98g. Compare to Hattatt 2000. A Visual Catalogue of Richard Hattatt’s Ancient brooches p. 332 no: 426 which also has an integral stud and a pseudo chord.
