Copper-alloy clothing fastener. Rectangular loop, slightly distorted. Oval boss with moulded three-dimensional decoration consisting of a lion's head within an outer border with diagonal lines. Circular attachment loop perpendicular to boss. Upper surface gilded, much of which survives.

Think this dates to the regency period circa 1815 and is military issue as i found one with a snake buckle connector which was attached to the loop. An example appears in Bryan Fosten,s book:Wellingtons Infantry 2 under the 95th rifles circa 1811 uniform and may have been part of the sword belt.
