<description>
<full>A medieval copper alloy strap junction, broken at either end and also near the centre. The strap junction is rectangular in plan, openwork and comprises a large human face in the centre with perhaps vinescrolls and elongated animals forming the frame. The perimeter of the strip is decorated with incised lines. The face is probably male and is &#39;chubby&#39; in appearance, being round with large cheeks and nose. and has prominent drooping eye lids giving the face a sorrowful appearance. The mouth is oval.
The reverse of the strap has four pairs of strap bars, each pair bent over to join in the middle and thus securing the leather strap. There are fragments of leather still preserved within two of the bars. Object is broken at both ends.</full>
