Post medieval cast copper-alloy sub-rectangular shoe or knee buckle frame. The frame is drilled for a seperate iron spindle, now mostly corroded away. The frame is mostly D shaped in section with a flat back. The ends are slightly widened inwards and outwards in the centre and one has a transverse pin groove. The top and bottom sides curve inwards slightly and both have two semi circular raised mouldings flanking the thickened knop in the centre which is drilled for the spindle. The frame is 41.8mm long, 25.2mm wide and 4.0mm thick. It weighs 7.32 grams. Similar frames, although none exactly identical, are illustrated in Whitehead (2003) page 98-9; these are dated c1660-1720.
