Cast copper alloy spacer plate from a Medieval composite strap-end with large acorn knop terminal. It is 31.5mm long, 15.1mm wide and 5.5mm thick; it weighs 4.03 grams. The front and back plates are missing. The spacer section (above the collar) has a flat triangular plate from which rises two prongs, one at each edge; both are rectangular in cross section and taper from the plate. Both prongs have old breaks at the end, the longest is 12.4mm long. Below the expanded oval collar, which marks the point the plates would have ended, there is a waist and the the terminal expands into an acorn shaped knop. The knop has a trapizoid 'cup' decorated with incised cross hatching and an oval 'nut' coming to a slight point at the end. Similar strap-ends can be found illustrated in Egan and Pritchard (1991, 144; fig. 94, no.675) and date to the 14th or 15th centuries AD.
