{"recordID":"289713","finds":[{"created2":"2010 02 26","description":"A thin strip of copper alloy dating from the Early Medieval period. It has been bent into a U shape. The ends are broken. The strip may be from a pair of broken tweezers, but there is not enough surviving to be certain. The outer face of the strip is decorated with incised border lines, and a group of four ring and dot motifs at one end, and a further ring and dot at the other end. This end tapers to a point though it is not clear if this is damage or not. It has a length of 23.06mm, width 5.34mm, thickness 1.27mm, weight 1.36g. It has a beautiful turquoise and very smooth patina. For tweezers with ring and dot decoration see West 1998. A Corpus of Anglo-Saxon material from Suffolk p. 122 no: 51-53. ","notes":"This object and the attached records were recovered from a site which may be the location of an Early Medieval moot site, though later disturbance makes the site difficult to interpret. Archaeological work including trial trenching in advance of development has not yet revealed any further evidence. Most of the finds recovered through metal detecting are Early Medieval; material of this date is rare in West Yorkshire.\r\n\r\n","old_findID":"SWYOR-7E8131","id":"289713","objecttype":"tweezers","classification":null,"subclass":null,"reuse":null,"created":"2010-02-26 15:29:18","broadperiod":"EARLY MEDIEVAL","updated":"2011-02-24 13:52:42","treasureID":null,"secwfstage":"4","secuid":"0014B87E8CE01E7D","findofnote":"0","objecttypecert":"3","datefound1":"2010-01-18","datefound2":null,"createdBy":"1040","curr_loc":null,"inscription":null,"reason":null,"subsequentAction":"Returned to finder"}],"record":[{"id":"289713","old_findID":"SWYOR-7E8131","uniqueID":"0014B87E8CE01E7D","objecttype":"tweezers","classification":null,"subclass":null,"length":"23.06","height":null,"width":"5.34","thickness":"1.27","diameter":null,"quantity":"1","other_ref":null,"treasureID":null,"broadperiod":"EARLY MEDIEVAL","numdate1":"400","numdate2":"1066","description":"A thin strip of copper alloy dating from the Early Medieval period.
